Illusion world is great, not many people possess good knowledge about it. Every person knows that when a spoon is dropped into a glass of water it seems to be broken, though in reality it is not. There is a great range of other resembling optical illusions. Watching different sorts of illusions is a great pastime for people with inquisitive mind. An optical illusion is characterized by visually perceived images that are different from what they are in object reality. Our eyes gather information that is processed in mind. As a result we get a percept that does not match to what's really displayed. The sorts of the visual illusions are different according to the object that creates this illusion. For example, literal illusions create images that are different from the objects that make them. You have probably seen such pictures where at first you observe a certain object, but if you look more attentively you realize that this picture is created with the use of other objects. An example of this literal optical illusion is a vase formed by two faces. Such images are commonly named ambiguous pictures. It's sometimes really hard to notice another image on the same picture. Physiological illusions have a certain effect on our eyes and brain and in result we obtain an illusion of various parameters – color, brightness, size, movement. For example, there are images where some things look as if they are of different color or size, when in objective reality they are absolutely the same. Optical illusion of Muller-Lyer with arrows is a great example of this kind of visual illusions. Cognitive illusions make the brain made not correct conclusions from what our eyes see. These are paradoxical and impossible things like Penrose triangle and impossible stairs, as well as hallucinations. Optical illusions are a great entertainment for all the people. What's more, they help us to have a look at our world from another side. As a result our brain will get flexible that will definitely assist you in future life.
